I had mentioned previously that my Knight drawing was the easiest of the first two I drew (the other real drawing being Stravinsky). This one was even easier and, I think, looks better. In Edwards' book she cites the shift that the brain makes from left-mode to right-mode accounts for more accuracy. I think as I practice more, the easier that this happens.
Now, of course drawing upside down isn't the complete story. These exercises are a form of encouragement and a way to understand that drawing can be learned; it's not some esoteric, mystical ability imparted on The Chosen.
Tomorrow I'll run through the hand exercise. That's supposed to be five minutes and is supposed to get your mind to shift modes. After that I think I'm doing contour drawing.
Cheers,
Tim
